So, since we're celebrating and thanking God for all the MANY MANY blessings in our lives this week, I thought I'd teach everyone a modern hymn of worship and thanksgiving for the greatest gift we've ever been given: salvation. If there was any thing to ever be thankful for, it's for the day that Christ took our place and defeated death, hell, and the grave forever.
Maybe if you get a chance just sit down and take a few minutes and listen to the song and let the fullness of Christ's love fill you with joy and thankfulness this week. And then, when we come together on Sunday we can worship Him as one body of the redeemed church of Christ.
Here's the song, and here are the lyrics so you can go ahead and get familiar with them. Love you all and am more thankful than I could ever express to get to worship with you each week.
Death in His Grave
Though the Earth Cried out for blood
Satisfied her hunger was
Her billows calmed on raging seas
for the souls of men she craved
Sun and moon from balcony
Turned their head in disbelief
Their precious Love would taste the sting
disfigured and disdained
On Friday a thief
On Sunday a King
Laid down in grief
But awoke with keys
Of Hell on that day
The first born of the slain
The Man Jesus Christ
Laid death in his grave
So three days in darkness slept
The Morning Son of righteousness
Arose to shame the throes of death
And over turn his rule
Now daughters and the sons of men
Would pay not their dues again
The debt of blood they owed was rent
When the day rolled a new
On Friday a thief
On Sunday a King
Laid down in grief
But awoke with the keys
of Hell on that day
The first born of the slain
The Man Jesus Christ
Laid death in his grave
He has cheated
Hell and seated
Us above the fall
In desperate places
He paid our wages
One time once and for all
On Friday a thief
On Sunday a King
Laid down in grief
But awoke with the keys
of Hell on that day
The first born of the slain
The Man Jesus Christ
Laid death in his grave
