About Andrea & Jan!
Andrea and I met ~5 years ago in Germany (we actually met at a TexMex restaurant). We became great friends, spent a lot of time with each other. Her happiness and her trust in GOD made me fall in love with her.
A lot of things happened since then, but our love for each other just got stronger. We got married in Germany in '06 and moved to Michigan after I had finished my MBA.
After 1 1/2 year in Michigan we moved to Hixson for my job at VW. We immediately fell in love with the area and the people in Tennessee. In Wes and Christie we found great friends!!! We love those guys to death. It's an interesting Northern, Southern, German mix, when we are hanging out.
We still have to get used to the bright orange on all the shirts, stickers, car hoods, dog costumes, cups, tooth brushes ... simply everything seems to be orange in TN. Despite that we all know that it's great to be a Michigan Wolverine --- GO BLUE!!! For the SEC I can only say "roll Tide", "Go BAMA!"
We are attending the Net Church since its second week. Now, we want to do the next step and have our own small group. We are excited to meet new friends in our new hometown. Everybody is welcome (Ohio State fans might need to sit outside though?!)!
Andrea and I love traveling. We are going somewhere immediately when there's a long weekend (Savannah, Mobile, Smokey Mountains, New Orleans...). We are both working at VW. Unfortunately we have no kids, yet.
We do have two puppies though. Brownie, a black lab, and Blue, an Australian Cattle Dog. By the way even though we called our black dog Brownie and our white dog Blue we are not colour blind!!! We love to go on hikes with them. There are great trails on Signal Mountain.
Andrea likes cooking, baking, swimming and playing games. I love soccer! For three weeks now we have a German 24/7 soccer tv channel. Andrea got a little upset since they needed to install a second dish just for this one TV station?!
To sum up - we love having a good time with friends. For our small group we are planing to first meet every other week; play games, cook together, get to know each other!!! After that we are definitely interested in some type of bible studies. As common in a good democracy we would like to discuss this with you guys beforehand.
We would love to have you in our small group!!!

Change of plans (although I think we got a hold of most of you over the phone): we're meeting tonight at the driving range on Middle Valley Rd at 8:00 PM. Call me if you have questions (248-210-3575), but not if you need help (I've been to the driving range a grand total of 2 times in my life - both 10 years ago).

Hey y'all (I learned that one from Paula Dean),
Just wanted to thank everybody for coming. We really enjoyed the evening and had a lot of fun.
As already discussed yesterday we will have our next meeting on a Thursday so that Christie can join us!

We look forward to meeting you guys. A lot of the groups are meeting on Mondays and Wednesdays. Unfortunately, my husband has to work the evening shifts on these days.

We are planing to meet tomorrow after Church (2/14/2010) to discuss what time would be best for our first Hixson Young Marrieds small group meeting.
Jan will be wearing a Michigan sweater to make it easier for you to find us. We'll be standing at the theater entrance!
