A few of you know that I went home to Virginia to be home with my mom and my family this past week. Two years ago my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer and had a masectomy and some chemo and radiation treatments. All was fine for about 6 months then she had a couple lumps reappear near her neck. My mom has been in a tremendous amount of pain the last couple of months -- so much that we had to get her a hospital bed, put her on an automatic morphine pump, and we have to help feed her, change her, etc. She is still there mentally, but the morphine has pretty much made her different. I have given it completely to God and know that no matter what happens, she will be healed whether here on earth or if He takes her to heaven. But I'm still praying faithfully everyday that God would completely restore her body so that she can tell her story to others. It's been amazing to see how God has changed people's hearts especially in our family members and I know He is not finished yet.

Just spoke with Johnny a few minutes ago. His mother passed away this evening at approximately 6:30pm. Johnny was pretty broken up when I spoke with him, but also grateful that his mother's pain is over and that she's in heaven with Christ tonight!

Please keep he and his family in your prayers. Johnny's father and 6 siblings are with him in Virginia.
You and your family are in my prayers tonight. I also know the pain of cancer. My mom was diagnosed with Stage 4 Melanoma several months ago. You never think as a child that you would have to care for your mom like she had cared for you until you are faced with it. I am so extremely sorry for your loss.
Johnny - Sam & I will be praying for you and your family that God will give you the extra comfort & grace that you need at this difficult time. We were so sorry to hear the news about your Mom. Although we know she is with the Lord, saying good-bye here is never easy. We know she must have been very proud of you and that you will have lots of wonderful memories to hold to til you see her again. We love ya lots.
Johnny, Victoria and I are praying for you and your family. I can't imagine what it is like to lose my mother. But Knowing you, you will find every bit of good you can in this time of hurt. Let us know if we can do anything for you when you get back. Love ya buddy.
I just wanted to thank everyone for all of their prayers during this time. Although the night that mom passed was very hard for me, it has been simply incredible to see and hear how God has used my mom to change people's lives. I'll be staying in Virginia for a few more days before coming back to Chattanooga. We are having a Celebration of Life service at Blue Ridge Church of Christ on Tuesday June 9 at 7 PM. Mom always wanted to make as much of an impact as she could even in leaving this world. She wanted to have a "church service" to come together, worship the Lord and make decisions to rededicate or to dedicate your life to Christ. So, please pray that God would completely orchestrate that evening to bring more into His kingdom. If you feel like you want to give something or be involved in that capacity, just send me a message and I can get you more information. More details are at www.charltonandgroomefuneralhome.com. Thanks so much to my new church family!
