The Online Community for The Net in Chattanooga

Is there anyone who is REALLY into music of all kinds? Ever dig into some songs and really pull out a GREAT message? Ever had a song really move you? how? I listen to quite a bit of hip hop and I love to pull out Godly messages from even what might appear to be the worst sounding song.. ya know?
Any Thoughts on any of this? I am totally open to ANY comments, conversations, etc.
please share.

So just out of curiosity....have you guys gotten together and done this yet?

why do you ask? interested in forming a group of some sort?

Just let me know.

thanks,
Clay
My mom just bought a house in East Ridge. I am thinking and praying about moving at the end of July in with my mom (or in general). I am in Murfreesboro now and feel like it is time to move on. I have been in town all week painting and getting the new house ready for her and was curious what kind of church possibilities there where here in Chat-town. I really like what I saw online about the net and wanted to come Sunday but had other obligations with my mom.
I read several of the discussions and really liked the idea behind it... have always paid alot of attention to lyrics and lately have just been thinking alot about them... prolly because I have been listening to my itunes library non-stop while painting an entire house!!! :) So your previous conversation sparked my interest and wondered if anything ever became of it. I have been trying to find my three songs - just for fun. Its really interesting.
I love discussions and creative/outside the box thinking so this has allowed me to have music to entertain me while working and to bring everything back to God with the lyrics... Its just been nice.

-- But i am interested in finding a church here for my mom to go to....she has been mentioning getting back into church alot lately but I think she needs a push. So regardless of if i move here or not i want to find a theologically sound place with good people who are doers of the word not just hearers.... if that makes sense... so any input from you would be greatly appreciated. Plus im in town often and know no one. Anyway I need to get back to work--kitchen cabinets are a calling for a second coat.
--Thanks for responding Clay

Jessica (or are you a Jess or Jessie?) Thanks for dropping me a note. You know where we meet, right? At the Rave movie theater in East Ridge? We’d be pretty close to your mom regardless of where her house is at in East Ridge. If you’re in town this weekend you should come on over. We’re in the middle of our One Prayer series, so we’ll have a video message, but you’d still get the feel of what we’re about, just not Ryan’s preaching. Check out any of the video’s on here though – any one of them would be a good representation of his speaking.

I love music and listen to it all the time. I just thought it would be a neat discussion and maybe get some people thinking in a different way ya know?

The NET is laid back and contemporary, but the theology is sound and the people are good. We have a small group (70 people, so it’s not that small) that focuses on outreach, but it’s practical, not door to door handing out tracts! Ha! Like any church we have people who hear and people who do, but the percentages are higher towards the doers.

We have a good mix of people too, all kinds of backgrounds, all ages – young and old, probably the heaviest concentration around the 20-30 age, but older folks too. You’d see suits and ties, shorts and t-shirts, tattoo’s, and at least one Mohawk. Ryan’s big thing is knowing the difference between essentials and non-essentials. We strive to have freedom in the non-essentials and unity in the essentials.

Well that's about it in a nutshell... I hope to hear from you soon and maybe see you guys at the Net the Sunday. We start at 10:00 a.m. every Sunday.

Talk to you soon, and good luck painting!
